چکیده

Innervation of the coronary vessels is initiated before the 30 mm. stage of development. All the main branches of the coronary arteries are formed and in their definitive positions by the 40 mm. stage. Two plexuses have been shown for all the larger vessels after the 120 mm. stage. There are coarse-fibre and fine-fibre plexuses, situated at different levels in the tunica adventitia. Ganglion cells have been found in relation to the coronary arteries over the ventricles. This confirms the part played by the vagal system in the innervation of the ventricle. No nerve endings were seen in the tumica media.

Clinical Implications of Congenital Absence of Circumflex Coronary Artery

Introduction: Coronary artery anomalies are rare clinical entities reported in 0.6% to 5.6% of diagnostic coronary angiographies. Anomalous origins of coronary arteries from distal segments are rarely reported. Presented herein is a coronary anomaly in which the circumflex artery (CX) originated as a continuation of the posterolateral branch of the right coronary artery (RCA) w...

Long-term clinical and angiographic follow-up after coronary stent placement in native coronary arteries.

BACKGROUND Although coronary stents have been proved effective in reducing clinical cardiac events for up to 3 to 5 years, longer term clinical and angiographic outcomes have not yet been fully clarified. METHODS AND RESULTS To evaluate longer term (7 to 11 years) outcome, clinical and angiographic follow-up information was analyzed in 405 patients with successful stenting in native coronary ...

Peptidergic innervation of human epicardial coronary arteries.

The peptidergic innervation of proximal (internal diameter, > 0.8 mm) and distal (internal diameter, < 0.8 mm) regions of human epicardial coronary arteries was investigated by means of immunohistochemical, chromatographic, radioimmunological, and in vitro pharmacological techniques. The use of an antiserum to the general neuronal marker protein gene product 9.5 revealed that the proximal part ...

Development of the coronary arteries in the embryonic human heart.

It is not known why the coronary arteries almost always originate only from the right and left aortic sinuses of Valsalva, since the structure and conditions appear to be the same for all six sinuses of the embryonic great arteries. We sought a possible mechanical explanation for the phenomenon by studying the development of the coronary vasculature in 351 staged, serially sectioned human embry...

Avoidance of Dialysis in an End-Stage Renal Disease Patient Status-post Off-pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Certain benefits are clearly associated with the use of off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) as compared with the on-pump CABG. The superiority is more evident in patients with multiple co morbidities including renal failure. We reviewed the medical records of a 67-year-old male with a past medical history that was significant for multiple cardiovascular diseases and new-onset end-sta...
